Annual General Meeting
Our AGM was held on Saturday 27 April in the United Reform Church main hall. We had an exceptional attendance.
The main topic was the Development Plan Document (DPD) published by the TWBC Planning Department in March 2013. Our consultant planning representative, Mr Paul Carter, who is retained by the HVA, gave a thoroughly interesting and informative address at the meeting. Among many of the issues raised by Mr Carter was the question of how many dwellings needed to be built on the Hawkenbury Farm Site, how this would affect the siting of the proposed school and how the existing allotments could be preserved. Furthermore, he suggested how we, as a community, could object to any of this development that we failed to support. Subsequently committee members and HVA members vigorously supported objections to the Planning Department by e-mail, letter and petition. The petitions were organised, as indeed were the Committee’s written objections, by Julia Hepner and we must thank her for all her sterling efforts.
We should also like to especially mention the support given to us by Cllr. Mayhew, both advisory nd vocally by her address to the AGM. We should also like to thank Cllrs Bulman and Scholes for their continued support, especially at Council level.
