AXA/PPP
Due to a planning application lodged with TWBC by AXA/PPP to extend their property and at the request of our Planning representative Michael Doyle, a forum was convened at the Town Hall by the Planning Department.
This meeting took place on 19th December and the case, on behalf of Hawkenbury residents, was stated by Michael Doyle and Graeme Gibson. Several Members of your Committee also attended. The opinions of the residents were listed and presented to the Planning Department, the most important being that, as a result of the Applicant’s plans, there was going to be an increase in their staff of more than 200, possibly working 24 hours a day, this would make the present parking situation even worse than it is right now.
AXA/PPP have planned for an 83 extra parking spaces for this increase in staff, which, of course, is totally inadequate. Also the design of the new extension is completely overbearing for local residents of Camden Park and as such AXA/PPP were requested to reconsider their plans. Furthermore, additional off-site parking was strenuously suggested and the use of the AXA/PP shuttle bus was proposed as an alternative means of transport, which would alleviate the pressures of parking here in Hawkenbury.
Whilst we should not forget that AXA/PPP are the major employer in town and are welcome in Hawkenbury we must try to ensure the harmonious discussions we are already having with them remain as such and will lead to a successful outcome for AXA/PPP and most importantly the residents of Hawkenbury.
We shall, through the newsletter, keep you updated on the progress of Michael and Graeme’s efforts in trying to ensure the application is constantly being monitored.
