DPD – DEVELOPMENT PLAN DOCUMENT SITE ALLOCATIONS
On Friday 22nd February your Committee was called by Cllr. Catherine Mayhew who informed us that Tunbridge Wells Borough Council intend to concrete over the rural fringe area of Hawkenbury Farm. This area is contained within the Holly Hill Allotments, which are to be scrapped, on the right of Hawkenbury Road opposite the Rec and the rear of the eastern side of the whole of Maryland Road. This building area, containing 250 dwellings, is to include a new primary school.
It does NOT include:
- A surgery
- A pharmacy
- Any improvement to existing roads
- Any plans to assist pedestrian crossing of Forest Road
This development will entail an almost 30 percent increase in the population of Hawkenbury.
Our village as we now know it is to dramatically change forever.
Furthermore, a considerable area of Green Belt land to the east of this development has been chosen for further development after 2026.
This area is stated to be an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Please note that the draft development plan has a consultation date of 18th March to 24th May.
