End of the road?
After months of campaigning, I am happy to say that the Council have declined the application for a road through the chestnut coppice off High Woods Lane. The decision was delivered by the council officer on their website on Wednesday, 28 June 2017. You can read the decision here: http://twbcpa.midkent.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=OO36C0TYIMK00
I am in touch with the Enforcement Officer and I believe the enforcement notice is now going to be acted on. The landowner, Mr Bowman, will have to reinstate the woodland area and I understand that the tree officer for the council is asking that additional trees be planted to replace those that are lost.
Please bear in mind that Mr Bowman can still appeal the decision and we will remain vigilant to this happening. We will file a response, should an appeal be made.
I would like to thank everyone who has emailed me and sent in photographs in relation to this issue in the High Woods. Thank you to those residents, who raised objections with the council. You have all helped save a piece of our natural woodland.
We look forward to seeing the restored woodland in due course.
