Hawkenbury Farm Estate
On 12th September the HVA Committee and Cllr Mayhew met with two members of Berkeley Homes, at their suggestion. Berkeley initiated the meeting as a result of the HVA’s vehement opposition to the development contained in TWBC’s Site Allocation Consultation – Berkeley enjoy an option over a portion of the Hawkenbury Farm which forms part of the Consultation. Whilst TWBC has not yet reported the outcome of the Site Allocation Consultation, Berkeley felt that it would be beneficial to meet us at this early stage.
Berkeley assured the Committee that, in the event that TWBC allocate the site for development, it is extremely keen to hear ideas from residents on how Berkeley can alleviate the impact of the development and even add features to positively improve our community and environment.
So whilst a decision about development is awaited (and we maintain our stance of total opposition to housing development in Hawkenbury) we would ask residents to begin to think about how you think Berkeley could make a positive impact on our village if the Hawkenbury Farm site was approved for development. As, and when, we hear the outcome of the Consultation, we will let you know.
