Hi Nicky, thanks for your response. Will the children on the new estate be given a priority over existing residents for the 30 reception places? Or will we all go in the pot for them?

Where do Hawkenbury Children attend Primary School?

    • Nicky Green Vitiello says:

Children who live in.Hawkenbury & the Mountfield Estate (abutting the development i.e. Maryland Road. Lambourn Way, Forest Road) will have a school on their doorstepbut it will not accommodate their children This is because the new school now it is to take less pupils and by they time children from the huge Hawkenbury Farm development and those from St Peters take their places their will be no room for the children of Hawkenbury parents. The sweetner for this enormous estate was the school which will now not be able to offer places to the children of Hawkenbury residents

        Oops – responded above…

      • Press Secretary says:

The new school will have an additional 10 reception places. St Peter’s CoE currently has 20 places and this will increase to 30 from September 2019. KCC have not published the admissions policy for the new school yet and we are already lobbying our councillors about this. You can too! Children in need and siblings of current St Peter’s students will get priority. Then it will be down to the admissions policy of KCC and the school to decide who will be allocated the remaining spaces. We would suggest that parents apply as first choice, regardless of what the school might tell you. There are parents in Hawkenbury who have been offered places at St Peter’s this year.

The number of pupils will increase in each class year by 10 from September 2020, so that by 2026, the school will be at full capacity of 210 pupils. We fully expect the need for the 2nd form entry to be clear to KCC next year and they will have to construct the additional classrooms for new pupils at the school in September 2020.

Disgraceful and unbelievable. The poor residents of Maryland Road and Hawkenbury Road will have to endure even longer disruption to allow this phased build.

  4. nicky green-vitiello says:

the delay is very frustrating so too is the size of the school. once again Hawkenbury parents will be driving their children across town to primary schools because there will be no room for them at the proposed school on the Berkely estate. Mountfield Estate parents will be let down again along with others.
