Play area – Hawkenbury Rec
Local residents will have received a survey from TWBC seeking views on usage and improvements to the Rec and I also extended the survey to ensure that we reached teh greatest number of interested parties. There has been a great response to thank you all – it was wonderful to see the democratic process at work.
The votes from both surveys were collated by TWBC. I am pleased to report that the improvements to the playground won (the exercise equipment being a close second) so in the Spring we look forward to seeing that installed in the Rec.
The discussions I have been having with the Council and local residents have also resulted in the following exciting prospects.
- The new pavilion being made available for private hire (subject to use of sports clubs)
- The proposal to establish a Saturday morning running club in Dunorlan Park.
- The creation of a running course with distance markets in the Rec
Personally (and on behalf of the HVA) I would like to that Peter Every and Paul Meek for the TWBC who have dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to secure this investment for our local community.
I would also like to thank all of you who expressed an opinion – whilst we couldn’t satisfy every need (and commiserations to those who didn’t get their choice) to secure such a large amount of money, £40,000, to be spent in the way the majority of the community want, is a big positive for Hawkenbury.
